The above statement has been one of my greatest challenges when it comes to losing weight – the other challenge? Pride! I am a take charge person who likes being in control and eating has always been my “problem child”.
It was a big step for me to join the new well as I had to put my pride aside and admit that I did not have control. I am still on that journey and will be forever but I want to encourage others to take the first step of taking control of your eating and exercise habits. If you are like me you need commitment, encouragement, and accountability. Janet and the others at the new well have always been there for me, even if I don’t always take advantage of it.
My family is the most important part of my life and I want to be around as long as possible to enjoy them. I want to have the energy to enjoy my grandchildren and since I have lost weight I have found my energy level has increased and I have been able to enjoy my grandchildren and their “everlasting” energy.
I am height challenged and find it hard to reach into high cupboards so I am always getting on a chair to reach into those cupboards. Before I started on the program I had a hard time boosting myself up on the chair but since I have been exercising regularly my strength has improved and I can now get up and down with ease.
Clothes – I hate shopping. (Hard to believe?) That has not changed but I do have to say I can find clothes easier thus eliminating time I have to spend looking. I can actually go into a store and be out of there on a lunch hour which is quite an accomplishment.
Food – still a problem but I have learned how to eat healthier and how to portion control making it possible to still enjoy my pastime but with limits.
Well, that’s my story. I hope it might encourage some of you out there who are riding the fence to take control of your eating and get some exercise so you can enjoy the life you have been given to the fullest.
